Air conditioning for a city that runs hot.
In July 2019 the Cambridge University Botanic Garden recorded 38.7°C, at the time the hottest temperature ever measured in the UK. Cambridge sits in the driest, sunniest corner of the country, and the city keeps adding the kind of buildings that hold on to heat: airtight new homes at Eddington, Trumpington and Great Kneighton, loft conversions in the Victorian streets, and offices and labs packed with equipment.
That is why air conditioning in Cambridge has moved from a nice-to-have to something people plan for. Most of the systems we fit are reverse-cycle heat pumps, so the same unit that keeps a bedroom cool in August heats it cheaply in January.
We install, service and repair air conditioning for homes and landlords across the city and South Cambridgeshire, and look after offices, labs, clinics and server rooms. Every quote names the make, model and kW, and says exactly what is included.

Cambridge buildings need a little thought.
A good installation in Cambridge depends as much on the building as the room. These are the situations we plan for most:
- Victorian and Edwardian terraces around Mill Road, Romsey, Petersfield and Chesterton: solid walls, tight rear yards and alleyway access, and neighbours close by.
- Conservation areas and listed buildings: much of central Cambridge is protected, so outdoor units and pipe routes need planning, and sometimes consent.
- New-build estates at Eddington, Trumpington Meadows, Great Kneighton, Cambourne and Northstowe: airtight homes with big glazing, and sometimes estate rules about external equipment.
- Science parks, labs and offices: equipment-heavy rooms, server rooms that cannot go down and buildings that run around the clock.

Two or three phone clips of the room, the wall and the outside space give us almost everything a surveyor would look at. Upload them and a written price usually follows within a working day.
Record the space
Walk the room slowly, then show the wall and the outside.

Long clips are fine: uploads go in small pieces and resume if they drop.

A single-room wall-mounted system typically costs £2,000–£3,500 installed, and a 2–3 room multi-split £3,500–£6,000 or more. We give you a fixed written price after a survey or video. See our Cambridge price guide.
Can I get a quote without a home visit?
Yes. Send a two-minute video of the room and outside wall and we usually reply with a written quote within one working day.
Which areas do you cover?
All of Cambridge (CB1 to CB5) and South Cambridgeshire, including Trumpington, Cherry Hinton, Chesterton, Histon and Impington, Cambourne, Great Shelford, Sawston, Milton and Waterbeach, plus Ely and East Cambridgeshire.
Do I need planning permission in Cambridge?
Many installations do not, but listed buildings, conservation areas, flats and units on the front of a house can. Much of central Cambridge is in a conservation area, so we check before quoting.
Can you install air conditioning in a new-build home?
Usually yes. Some estates have rules about external equipment, especially in the first few years, so check your transfer documents or ask the developer.
Can air conditioning heat my home?
Yes. Reverse-cycle systems heat rooms efficiently in winter and cost far less to run than electric heaters.
Do you cool labs and server rooms?
Yes, including systems that run all year with duty/standby units and alarms for critical rooms.
Do you service systems you did not install?
Yes, most makes. Send the make, model and photos of the rating plates when you book.
Tell us about your room or building.
We reply during working hours, usually the same day, with a few questions, a video survey link or a visit time.
